Fr Peter celebrated his Golden Jubilee of Ordination in St Mary’s Church, Crosserlough on Friday 26th June 2026. The church was packed to capacity for a Mass of Thanksgiving, and members of the congregation included Fr Peter’s fellow clergy, his family, current and former parishioners and a wide circle of friends. Archbishop Francis Duffy, a native of the Parish of Templeport, joined Kilmore Diocesan clergy in concelebrating the Mass.

Symbols representing Fr Peter’s life and ministry over the past five decades were carried forward to the altar – his ordination card, his stole, his breviary, a candle, a vessel containing oil of the sick, a painting of the Good Shepherd, flowers and a flag of Nigeria.

The combined choirs of Crosserlough, Drumkilly and Kilnaleck came together to provide beautiful music and singing, greatly enhancing the ceremony. Reflecting his lifelong love of horses, Fr Peter was presented with a Genesis statuette depicting a mare and foal.

After the ceremony, everyone was invited to the nearby marquee for refreshments and musical entertainment. On behalf of the parishioners of Crosserlough Parish, Crosserlough Parish Pastoral Council would like to congratulate Fr Peter on reaching this wonderful milestone of fifty years of dedicated priesthood.
